On Sunday, December 11, 2011, I attended my last web conference for EDLD 5363 with 32 participants. We had some technical difficulties with video and audio at first. The only person everyone could see was me. The group chatted about Week 4 and 5 assignments. Dr. Abernathy provided information about the change from Epic to Blackboard in the near future. She discussed the assignments that were due this week and told us about the assignments that had been deleted by Epic in Dallas. I enjoyed how Dr. Abernathy provided several web conferences in a week to discuss any concerns or problems with the weekly assignments. By having options about scheduled web conferences made it convenient for me to attend the ones suitable for my schedule.
During the conference participants and Dr. Abernathy furnished useful information about the GRE, TEACH grant, clarification on the copyright and time of the public service announcement. The group asked questions about the internship and the starting date for the next course. Dawn Kirkland gave information about the assignments due in week 5. The Week 5 assignments are Updated Pre-production Doc, Evidence of Team Collaboration (Google Docs, email scripts, any digital communication for the team), and the team video product. In addition, students were to reflect on 3 web conferences in their blog or in their eportfolio. Their eportfolio can be the web 2.0 tool of their choice, but the eportfolio should have work from all classes in the program.
The five web conferences I attended were very beneficial to me during the course because they helped to clarify the weekly assignments. I hope the program continue to offer participants the option to attend web conferences during the course. I have enjoyed the collaboration the web conferences provide for the participants. They make the people real.
